Acrylic on canvas board
11"x14"
A tribute to my favorite artist of all time, Vincent Van Gogh.
I never realized exactly how detail oriented and precise his works were until I painted this piece. The swirls of the sky in his works tend to distract from the realistic details that he includes in the rest of the pieces. Painting this piece in acrylic posed an extra challenge; due to the quick drying time it was more difficult to give the illusion of textures similar to those seen in the original piece.

Acrylics flatten when they dry due to the high moisture content within. Invest in some modeling paste which can be mixed into the acrylics without altering their hue. These will allow you an impasto which will dry & give you the desired texture of a Van Gogh.
