About The Artist

Working on "Mad Scientist" (2013)
Laura Jaen grew up in Horseheads, New York with a love of art and all things creative.  She lived in Laramie, Wyoming for almost a decade before returning back to the Elmira, New York area and re-concentrating on her artistic side.

Although Laura Jaen likes to experiment with different mediums, styles, and techniques, the majority of her works are in acrylic, colored pencil, or pastels and are realistic portrayals of local scenes and objects.

Laura Jaen is primarily a self-taught artist, however has taken a couple of art classes from the local community college in Laramie, Wyoming under the artistic direction of Jeanie Schlump.  Laura has a love of learning and an eye for detail that tend to lead her to seek knowledge of new techniques, and to observe and appreciate the beauty around her.

Currently Working on:

October 2015 -  Fall has arrived and I have all sorts of projects centered around autumn themes floating around in my mind!  I'm trying to find enough time in my busy life to get them all down on paper/canvas.  There are a couple of events that I'm gearing up to enter work into and I'm also starting to think about different Christmas projects - including possibly making hand painted ornaments available for purchase (more details to come later)!  I've been working on a long-term project in the last few months that I'm very excited about - I talk about it here

I wanted to take a little space to thank everyone who has helped me in my artistic pursuits along the way so far.  Whether it was actually teaching me the skill, supplying the materials, lending me a face to draw, or quietly cheering me on from the sidelines.
