Thinking Spring

Acrylic on canvas
5"x7"

This is a painting from an art challenge group that I'm a part of.  With all the cold, snowy weather here lately, I decided to place the bird on a budding tree instead of the background in the original reference photo.  I think this is the first time that I've painted a bird, but overall I'm pleased with how it came out.  After a little bit of research, we figured out that this may be a European Tree Sparrow.

Teena's Flowers

Colored pencil on drawing paper
8"x12"

In the memory of the person who inspired my creative spirit as a young child, I drew a picture for her birthday of one of the paintings that she created and gave me as a child.  She never was really proud of this particular painting, but I always have and always will cherish it.

Snow Baby

Colored pencil on pastel paper
9"x12"

I created this drawing as an entry for Colored Pencil Magazine's monthly art challenge.  I really enjoyed experimenting with the colors on the black page as well as returning to portrait drawing for this piece. (Initial Photograph by: Sally Ford)

Winter Sunset

Acrylic on canvas
9"x12"

A local scene of along the Chemung River in Elmira, New York.  I was attracted to the bold colors of the sunset and had fun trying to recreate the scene while using such unexpected colors.

*2/28/15 - 4/12/15 - This painting is currently available for viewing and sale at the Annual Member Show at Community Arts of Elmira in Elmira, New York.
